Ongoing Operational Costs
Community Health Care
Building capacities in high-risks homes towards sustainably improved wellness costs R1 654 per family per year. Woza Moya services 1 000 homes and includes:
- Monthly In-home Health Support Visits (Monitoring, Educating and Referring)
- Maternal & Infant Care
- Care for people with disabilities
- Support for people living with AIDS
Early Childhood Development
Laying a healthy developmental foundation in 200 children costs R2 600 per child per year.
School Support Programme
Community care givers identify many orphaned and vulnerable children who need educational support in the Ufafa region. A once-off donation of R2000 which will cover a mother and child for one year.
Building Projects and Maintenance
2009 saw the construction of the Play Centre; sinking of a borehole and major water reticulation; electrical rewiring and a new access road. In 2013 an accomodation building in the form of a double-storey rondavel was built. It's completion has been put on hold due to a lack of funds. This will provide much needed accomodation for professional partners and volunteers who come to work at Woza Moya.
As funds allow, food parcels are provided to the most impoverished families subject to grants that have been applied for.
The 35 community care workers carry palliative remedies with them on their home visits.
Staff Development and Training
On going training for all care workers and staff to keep the team well informed and abreast of all new information and skills.
Community Centre Administration
The hub for all community outreach activities, such as stationery, telecommunications, electricity, office equipment and maintenance.
Food Security Initiatives
Community members who have started their own food gardens need assistance with fencing and water tanks.
Other areas that require funding
Existing programmes need to be expanded and developed, but this is all fund dependant. E.g. in addition to the 600 children already receiving assistance, 100 orphaned/vulnerable children in the community have been identified by the care workers and extra funding would allow us to respond to their needs as well.
