Paralegal programme begins

Tuesday, 10 October 2006 00:00

The Paralegal programme is established at Woza Moya in partnership with Black Sash.  Gundane Mthembu moves – gradually - from being our security guard into running this portfolio.

During his year of guarding the community centre at night Gundane was given access to our counseling room with desk and light in order for him to study; Woza Moya paid for him to study Community Development through UNISA which he passes.

More than 500 people attend a paralegal campaign held at the Community Centre to inform people of their rights to social benefits and to raise awareness about domestic and social violence and gender issues. Black Sash are the main speakers.

Woza Moya

  • actively seeks to empower women in the community and workplace
  • encourages taking responsibility by knowing your HIV status
  • respects the natural environment of the Ufafa Valley and the culture of the people living there
